Golf club revenues rely on course condition

Ed Pettit - Changing the Business of Golf

The golf course is the most important part of the experience for 90% of players, yet fewer than a quarter were satisfied with the year round conditioning, according to a survey of golfers in the UK and Ireland by Carr Golf Maintenance.

For Ed Pettit, Carr Golf Maintenance Managing Director, the message for golf clubs and their managers is clear: "The golf course is the business’s most valuable asset and it must be invested in." Watch Ed's podcast here:

Golf course businesses are under increasing pressure from regulation, resource scarcity and rising customer expectations. Meeting those challenges - and securing long-term sustainability - starts with prioritizing your golf course, he says.

In the latest Syngenta Golf Changing the Business of Golf podcast, Ed explains:

  • How prioritizing the golf course will elevate customer experience and maximise revenue across the business.
  • How to use data and technology to inform decision-making.
  • Why clubs need to start preparing for future regulatory and resource challenges to ensure long-term business sustainability.

Syngenta Business Manager, Sarah Hughes, adds: "The report and advice echoes the importance that clubs needs to place on the greenkeeping team, and providing them with the investment and support in managing the course.

"Greenkeepers are facing unprecedented challenges with the effects of climate change on turf health," she warns.

"Ensuring they have all the tools available, both cultural and chemical, for a turf health strategy, along with the skills and support to implement an effective Integrated Turf Management programme, will be crucial to fulfill players' demands and future financial success of the clubs."
